Some sewing

This is what I turned in at sewing club.

A summer dress.
I even put in an attached slip as this fabric was a bit see through.

A pair of boys PJ's in some cute, warm fleece.

A little girls bag.

I also included some soft puppies. Every kid needs a friend to hug.

This passed weekend we had the Pinewood Derby car (truck) races in Cub Scouts. Matthew (I know he is not in uniform) took 1st place in the Bear division. He now goes on to the district races in March. He made a truck this year called "Super Camo". He also won the best paint job award.

This is what the Sandia Mountains looked like this past Saturday. No, we did not get any snow, we got some rain in the city. Another storm is to hit tonight, hoping for some snow.

Girl Scout Cookies

Yes, its that time again. You will see girls of all ages and sizes trying to get you to buy an expensive box of cookies.

Well, Emily and I are doing the same thing. Emily's troop is raising money for a trip to Europe in 3 years. She set a goal to sell 1000 boxes this year (300 less than last year). With her cookie dough she will be attending camp this year for her camp C.I.T. (Counselor In Training) .

The whole month of March will be spent at cookie booths. Not to mention she joined softball. It.'s going to be a long two months.

Take care,

Erlinda

Nothing

I keep forgetting to put the pictures first so the come out on the bottom of the post. Anyway, the mountains are the Organ Mountains in Las Cruces, NM. Picture was taken at NMSU stadium in October.

My three day weekend is coming to an end. What did I do?

Nothing, Nothing at all.
I landed up eating something I was not supposed too and had a really bad headache. I have never had a headache like this before. Allergies and sinus problems have also started and probability add to it. Today I have a slight headache, stuffy and tired. I also have a lot to do.
I have a little dress almost complete and a pair of PJ's I need to finish, so I am off to do that. Sewing club is next week, same day as Pine Wood Derby. No, the car is not even started, but that's not my doing.

Take care,

Erlinda

Pictures Finally

Girls PJ's

Boys Green Corduroy pants

Boys Dress Shirt

Boys Black Corduroy pants

Boys Dress Shirt
Here are the outfits I made for Sewing Club. I hope whoever gets these likes them and that they fit. I am going to try to make something for boys at least once a month. Girls clothing is fun to make, but the Barette house does need boys clothes.
Take care,
Erlinda

Baby Steps

This is my new toy. I'm learning how to use it. The picture was taken using my cell phone. This is cool and NO, no one helped me. Baby steps.

I did some sewing and did photograph the clothing and delivered them to Sewing Club. I also cut up two more outfits. It felt good to finally do something for others.

I am going to have Brian help me with pictures this afternoon. I didn't realize that he leaves tomorrow back to NMSU. How time flyes.

Hope fully I will be back later with more pictures.

Take care,

Erlinda

Long Week so Far

I returned to work which is going good. In the afternoons 2 of our kidos are going into a general ed class for Everyday math and I am going with them. What a change to go from 9 students to 28. So far, my 2 are behaving.

I have been sewing. Yes, I have. I got some PJ's done last night. I won't go empty handed to sewing club on Saturday. No, still no pictures I have not had time to play on this new computer. I have to figure out all the Everyday Math CD's. Special Ed did not receive any material (but still have to use Everyday Math). So I was assigned to figure things out and make copies and we need three different grade levels. So that is what I have been doing these past couple of days. OK, that and reading blog from the couch. Yea!

Sad news also hit our community: A young lady (15 yo) a former student of our elementary school and friend of Emily's, was found dead last week. I have known this family for years and had just seen this young lady before Christmas vacation. It is sad to lose someone you watched grow up with your daughter, she was so young. She has twin sisters who go to our school and one of the girls is in Matthew's class. Starting tomorrow there will be counselors on hand for any student/staff who need them. She was buried today. I don't know what to say or think. It is so sad. I keep thinking of her mother.

Hug your loved ones,

Take Care

2010 already

Can't believe its 2010. Where did the time go.

Borders ended on Christmas Eve and then we went to Taos on Christmas Day. We had a good Christmas up in Taos with all the family. Realized that the house up there needs a lot of work, came back thinking of changes to make.
New Year's was celebrated here in Albuquerque. We rang in the new year with Emily taking pictures of everyone. Had a blast. Stayed up way too late.

Spending way too much time on my Christmas gift : a Netbook Computer. Now I can be on the computer when I want too any time. It is sooo nice.

I did do some sewing last night. I have made two complete boys outfits (pants and dress up shirt). I need to get some t-shirts and maybe some socks to go with the outfits. I have some PJ's cut up, hope to complete those today. Excited, that now I will have more time to do what I like to do SEW and read Blogs.

I went back to see what I sewed last year and came up with these numbers:
73 items sewed,
62 were for the Barrette House,
11 were for the house and gifts.
I went off the pictures that I remembered to take, so I may be off on what was really made.

Everyone is talking about New Year's resolutions; I thought about it and came up with a few:

1. Sew more. (I feel guilty that I did not make enough for the kids at the Barrette House.)
2. Take care of myself by making healthy lifestyle changes.
3. Slowing down in what I do for others (except in my sewing).
4. Learn more: my computer, photography, Spanish, and sewing (maybe some classes are in order).

Well that it for now. I really want to go sew. Once I figure out how to get my pictures out of the family computer I will post some here.

Take Care,

Erlinda
