Some Sewing

I had a personal day off work today so I sat with my sewing machine and finally did some sewing for my sewing club. I wish I could see the kids who wear the clothes I make. Just to get the feel if they like them and how they fit.

This little dress took a long time. I started it before Easter and only needed the buttonholes. Well, I discovered that my machine decided not to make buttonholes any more. I finally just did them by hand. Size 12 months.

A pair of Capri pants. Size 3.

A cute top made out of gauze. Size 3.

I was fulling around and wanted to know if I could make a wallet. It turned out O.K. I am sure someone at the homeless shelter can use it. They give out gift cards for meals maybe they can put them in here.

I have only 6 days left of work then summer. Summer is filling up fast with Matthew in Cub Scout Day Camp and softball. Emily will be going to summer softball training and drum line, getting ready for a drum off. Kevin will also be in the drum off so he will be having drum line practice in the evenings. I also hope to get Kevin in to driving school, it just costs a lot. Brian will also be in drum line, but as the instructor.
We hope to get the pool set up this weekend, so the kids can come home and cool off. The temperature here is getting hotter everyday.
Got to go, Matthew has his cross over in Scouts tonight in the foot hills of the Sandia Mountains, Emily has her bridging in Girl Scouts on Saturday at a swimming pool.
Have a great weekend.

I still have a job

I had my evaluation at work today which was good and I still have my job for next year. Six of my co-workers have lost their jobs due to all the budget cuts. I am one of the lucky ones who will be returinng.

My postition is changing. I am being pulled out of Special Ed. and moved to Kindergarten. From 10 students to 27. From no field trips to 1 a month. And little metal chairs, paint and glue. Oh boy, its going to be a big change.

Take care,

Spacing

Sorry, I can not get my posts to have spaces between paragraphs. It seems like a long run-on sentence.

Softball and Other News

Softball started today for Matthew. It was a very windy and cold day. He had a lot of fun and so did we. I enjoy watching these little ones learn the game. No score is kept, but the kids do learn a lot about the game and have fun. All the kids get to bat, which is a good thing. The practices and games are held on Saturday mornings so there is no stress about softball during the weekdays.

Matthew headed home.

Ready to hit the ball.

In the dugout.
Other news of the week:
APS is letting go of a lot of teachers and aids. At work we have lost 2 teachers, 4 aids and our Dean of Students. And they are still cutting jobs. Nothing has been said about Special Ed. yet. The budget from the state has not come in, sooo I still don't know if I have a job or not. There is three weeks of school left, so I think I should find out by then. (I hope)
We had the Band banquet last night in which my kids got awards. It was very nice till the end, when the Band director announced that his position was cut. No more Band director. Now we don't know if there is a band for next year. :( And Del Norte hosts the" Duke City Drum Off" next year.
On to the good news. Emily received her Silver Award in Girl Scouts. She however missed the ceremony due the loss in our family.
Brian is home. He has completed his first year of college. He has one week to sleep late and be lazy and then he starts his job at the Labs.
All my kids are under one roof once again. Best mother's day gift ever.
A Happy Mother's Day to all you mother's out there. Hope you have a great day.

Star Wars

We ran into a bunch of these guys on Saturday near Hobby Lobby. You can make up you own story to this picture. Matthew was very happy mom asked this guy to arrest him (and get a picture). Mom can be embarrassing at times. ha ha

First Holy Communion

Even though Grandma Jessie was very ill, this guy Matthew made his First Holy Communion on April 18th. His celebration was a fast lunch (in the car) and a chocolate dipped cone from McDonald's (as we were rushing to the hospital). This day is also remembered as the day grandma was taken off life support. Not something a 9 year old should be remembering on what should have been his big day.

We hope to have a bigger celebration this summer, depending on family.

Matthew

Matthew and Monsignor Olona

This is my last child to go through communion and means this guy is not a child anymore. He is growing up, a little too fast for me.
Congratulations Matthew, we love you.
