A visit to the ER and back to work

This past weekend as Matthew went on his first camping trip out of state with the Boy Scouts, we headed up to Taos to visit grandma T and grandpa R. My Kevin decided he wanted to visit the local hospitals ER, so he had a massive back spasm, which numbed/tingly his arms/hands. They did not find anything else wrong, gave him some pain killers and sent him home. Talk about a stressful weekend, one son out of state (just got off his boot after breaking his ankle 8 weeks ago) and one in so much pain, laying in a hospital bed. ugh!

Both Emily and Matthew are registered for school. They got the classes they wanted. Both with be in new schools, Emily will go to the same high school just a whole new building as a senior. Matthew will be headed to middle school, his first year (6th  grade).

I started work this past Tuesday and am depressed. I am back in Special Ed. I know 3 of the kids returning and their parents make things hard for the kids and teachers. I really liked working in kinder general ed. this summer. Its a big difference.

Even this post is depressing with no pictures so here is one of the cranes from the Bosque Del Apache.

They seem happy just to find a spot to land.

Back at work

I have been at work for 2 weeks and I am enjoying it. It is very, very busy and completely different from Special Ed. I come home exhausted, but grateful. Our school is still under construction (it's a mess) but nice to only have a small amount of students.

I have been sewing for myself. I successfully made me a wearable top. No camera, so, no picture. I have also been sewing doll clothes. Hopefully I can get a Etsy shop up and going, soon.

Matthew is still on the mend from breaking his ankle. Em is taking drivers ed. Don't know when she grew up. She will be a senior this year (then off to college) :(  The older two only have a month at home before they leave back to NMSU.

Time is flying by, too quickly.

Erlinda

I can't believe that it is two week since last sewing club and I have nothing to take this time. No sewing for the BH this time around. I have been sewing, but on personal goal. More to come, also a lot of changes for this little old blog.

Prayers to all around the fires in and out of our state.

So stay tuned.

Take care,

Erlinda

Ugh! Its also sooo hot here and the smell of smoke everywhere.

No surgery required

No surgery and No cast for Matthew. He did break, fracture and smash (dent) his fibula at the growth plate, but is only on a boot. He is to keep off it and keep it up (which is proving to be hard).

I am on vacation (if you want to call it that). Three weeks off of work hopefully to clean my house, get rid of junk and sew.

Later.

Crazyness

These past few weeks have been crazy. My daughter got hit in the mouth with an empty water bottle and it broke her tooth. We were so lucky the dentist was able to glue it back on the same day. We don't know how long that will last or when it will fall off again.

Today my youngest broke his ankle while roller blading with his 5th grade class. End of the year field trip. He is on a fiberglass air cast and crutches till Monday that he gets a hard cast on.

There has also been other family member who have been hurt or ill. Not a good year so far.

I have done some sewing, mostly shorts. Work is also nuts, but the end is near. Six more days. Then 3 weeks off till I start the summer session.

Dreaming

Dreaming of my own separate sewing room with lots of natural lighting, a sewing machine that is not moody (that works), a large cutting table and yards (not scraps) and yards of cheerful, colorful fabric.

Back soon.

Guilt

I have not sewn any thing for the children at the homeless shelter and I feel guilty. Like I have done something so very wrong. It has been a busy two weeks, first last week was spring break for me and my 2 youngest (spent it spring cleaning and running the kids around) and then this week my older boys were home on their spring break and work with the new triplets in the class has been rough.

I did pull out some fabric and patterns this evening, for boys only. I don't have much in the way of fabric that would be suitable for boys.  We found out that this past week the shelter has had nothing but boys, from new born to age 10.

I guess I better get busy.

Spring Break

It has been a busy month. I was sick the entire month of February. Co-works and family say I am sick every February something I need to watch because what ever I had was bad.
Work has been crazy, we got a set of triplets (who fight with each other and the boys don't let their sister speak for herself). Most of the kids have also been very sick and one may need a feeding tube. I am learning a lot of medical terms and how to deal with them, very over whelming.
We had a family get together the end of February for my dads birthday/anniversary. Can not believe he has been gone from this earth 4 years.

Other things that are going on and some sewing.

Softball has started, trying to make all the games (not doing a good job yet)

This guy is now a Boy Scout.

 Knit top size 5.

Light purple knit top, size 5.

Corduroy pants in pink and purple, size 5.

Summer dress in yellow. It has a sewn in slip, size 6.

It is also Girl Scout cookie time. We did some pre-orders, but not much and we are trying to do as many booth sales as we can, but softball is getting in the way. So we will do our best and sell as much as we can. That's all we can do.

I am on Spring Break this week (besides softball and cookie sales) and plan to clean house. I am also hoping to get some sewing in. We will see.

I was supposed to......

On this vacation weekend:

I was supposed to...

....catch up on laundry
....clean house
....sew something for the BH kiddoes
....take pictures of the items I sewed for the BH kiddos
....do Boy Scout paper work
....copy pictures for Cub Scouts
....help Matthew reorganize his room
....make Arrow of light plaque (or something similar) for Matthew

instead:

went to thrift stores (bought nothing)
spent a whole afternoon at the library
made biscochitos (the kids did, I supervised)
cleaned and made pinto beans
fried sopapillas
and spent all day today watching family videos with these two

A great three day weekend in my books... wish my other two boys would of been here too.

Erlinda

Checking in

Happy Valentines Day everyone!

Not much going on here. No sewing for I have been sick, sick. First the tummy bug and then a real bad cold and now an awful cough that just does not want to go away. I never miss work and this past week I missed 2 1/2 days. The kids were not happy, it throws them off. All the kids in my class have all had some kind of illness, but I landed up the worst of it. Too much stress right now. And we are getting triplets in our class in the next week, bringing us up to 11 special needs kiddos. I am hoping they don't have any major medial needs like our others, for we are spread thin in help right now.  Enough venting I need to get to Boy Scouts.

Have a great week.

Take care,

Erlinda

I am sewing

I am sewing, just not as much as I planned. Hopefully this weekend I will have the two outfits I have semi-done finished to show you. I also want to start "my" quilt. I have some embroidery pieces that I did for myself and want to make (learn) "me" a quilt.

 Size 3 dress.

 Size 4 summer dress.

 Size 4 summer dress.

 Size 4 grey pants.

The above is what I took to sewing club today. Not much, but at least I got something done for the BH kids. I am surprised that I got the pieces out of scraps.  Below is something I am doing just because.

 Doll nightgown.

Doll robe.

The weather here has been nice. It feels like spring and that makes for allergies, bad allergies. We need rain or snow here.

Also going

A hat made by Emily will also be going to a lucky someone at the BH home.

Take Care,

Erlinda

This is what is going to Sewing Club today

 Two felt stuffed animals.

One purple (yes this is purple) scarf.

 Three white sweaters size 7/8.

Size 12 months blue pants and long sleeve top.

 Size 4 pants and top.

Size 7 dress.

These items will be going to Sewing Club today. We are also going to go through all of our fabric and notions today and start the new year knowing what we have. We don't have much storage space in the room we are in, so we need to simplify.

My goals this year are to: To remain positive, keep looking forward instead of glancing back. Turn wishful thinking into reality. To sew more for the kids at the BH and for myself and family.

Take Care,

Erlinda

Happy New Year

Happy New Year Everyone!
